Quietly competent Phil Housley ready to turn Buffalo Sabres around

Phil Housley is pretty sure that his old Buffalo Martin St. Louis Womens Jersey house is in good hands. In 2011, while an assistant coach for Team USA in the World Junior Championship in Buffalo, Housley and his family took a quick trip to the suburb of East Amherst to see the house he that and his wife, Karin, had built when he played for the Sabres in the 1980s. "It's the same house," Housley told ESPN.com. "It was a great little neighborhood and had four little cul de sacs, so it had a dead end and it was very peaceful." When he last lived in Buffalo, Housley was a young star defenseman on a good but not great team that http://www.officiallightningproshop.com/Martin_St_Louis_Jerseyplayed in a hockey-mad city craving a big-time contender. He played his first 608 career games and scored his first 558 points for the Sabres. In his second stint in the Queen City, he's a 53-year-old empty-nester living in a two-bedroom condo downtown. And he's now the Sabres' newest head coach and wants to finally give Buffalo a taste of success after missing the playoffs six straight years -- to stop the Sabres from becoming the equivalent to a hockey dead end. "These people are very enthusiastic and they're just waiting for one of the [pro] teams to take the next Authentic Marcus Thornton Womens Jerseystep," said Housley, a Hockey Hall of Famer who is the fourth-leading career scorer among NHL defensemen. "So they're hungry for a winner, and that is really important to me that we put a good product on the ice that the fans will want to come and see." As an assistant coach with the Nashville Predators from 2013-14 through the team's Stanley Cup finals run last season, Housley's ability to get through to his young defense proved his greatest strength. When Housley arrived with the Predators, blueliners Mattias Ekholm and Ryan Ellis needed someone with a deft touch to help them take the next step. Rookie Seth Jones needed a guiding hand to help him figure out how to handle the NHL. Ellis, a 2009 first-round pick, had six points in 32 games the previous season while averaging 16:23 of ice time per game. Ekholm had mostly played in Sweden and then the AHL after a disastrous debut in 2011-12. Jones was considered a future cornerstone blueliner but was still raw. Fast forward to last season, when Ekholm averaged 23:28 of ice time per game http://www.authenticnetstore.com/Marcus_Thornton_Jerseywhile posting positive 5-on-5 possession numbers and Ellis averaged 23:57 per game while blasting 16 goals. Jones had became an All-Star with the Columbus Blue Jackets after a January 2016 trade, and he attributes a lot of his early progress to working with Housley. "Phil I definitely think taught us a lot," Jones said. "I think in games he doesn't say too much behind the bench, but I think when he does say something, it means he sees something, and you want to listen to him because a lot of those guys in Nashville -- we wanted to be offensive defensemen -- and he was one of the best at being an offensive defenseman." Housley's ability to connect with players was on display immediately after the Sabres hired him on June 15. He started calling guys at 9 a.m. that day and basically didn't let up until he reached a good chunk of his players by late in the day. One of those players he chatted with was, of course, Jack Eichel, the team's 20-year-old star center who started last season sidelined with an ankle injury and finished it amid rumors that he Authentic Walt Frazier Womens Jersey wouldn't re-sign with Buffalo during the offseason if the Sabres didn't fire coach Dan Bylsma. Eichel shot down the rumors, but the Sabres then fired Bylsma and general manager Tim Murray. Eichel currently remains unsigned past this season, although he has publicly said he doesn't want to play elsewhere. The goal, according to Housley, is to make Eichel feel comfortable while being a superstar in a hockey fishbowl such as Buffalo. Housley knows what it's like from experience as a high-drafted (sixth overall) teenager who made the Sabres in 1982-83. "I think there's so much demand on him, we're going to try to protect him in that way so he can just focus on playing the game, coming to the rink and enjoying coming to the rink," Housley said. "Everybody has a clean slate, including him, to just make a good impression and do the right things and enjoy himself, and I think that will relay into success for him." "I've spoken with him a few times on the phone, and I just met him," Eichel told ESPN.com during media access in New York on Sept. 6. "He seems like http://www.knicksstoreonline.com/Walt_Frazier_Jersey a really down-to-earth guy. He can have a conversation with you that doesn't involve hockey. As players, you appreciate that. When he got the job he called me and we had a good conversation. He told me the way he wants to play this year, what his expectations are." Housley said he mostly tries to ignore the talk around Eichel's contract. All he wants is for Eichel to be happy and producing. Last season Eichel, the No. 2 pick in the 2015 draft, had 57 points in 61 games, which led the Sabres. "That's why he pays his agent and that's why [general manager] Jason [Botterill] speaks to his agent," Housley said. "I just want him to come to the rink and forget about that, take that off his plate. Even though everybody knows negotiations are going on, but let's focus on our team and let's focus on getting better every day."

From wild-card chases to MVP races: Your guide to season's final two weeks

When it comes to free agency, only a few players Men's Majestic Minnesota Twins #22 Miguel Sano Replica Blue American League 2017 MLB All-Star MLB Jerseya year are of the quality where they're practically guaranteed nine-figure salaries just for showing up. Yu Darvish and Jake Arrieta will receive dump trucks full of currency whether their ERA is 1.00 or 9.00 in October. For the players who don't obviously stand out from the pack, a big playoff run is a nice tiebreaker when competing for contracts. And those games can change the projections too, with the most recent good example being Daniel Murphy, who saw his 2016 OPS ZiPS projection http://www.authentictwinshop.com/authentic-22-miguel-sano-jersey.html jump 40 points just from his postseason performance. To this end, let's run down the free agents who have an additional financial incentive this postseason. Eric Hosmer, Kansas City Royals: If all you knew about this year's free agents was their 2017 stat line, you'd expect Hosmer to earn a large payday fairly easily. He has put up an .896 OPS, his best in the majors by nearly 80 points, he's hitting .323, and for the sabermetric set, he has put up career highs in both popular flavors of WAR. But a couple of "buts" stand out. First, Hosmer has never actually put up Kyle Seager #15 Womens jersey two league-average seasons back-to-back, let alone consecutive years at the All-Star level he has been at during his best stretches. Teams take postseason magical doings with less seriousness than they did 30 years ago, but for a first baseman looking to stand out, failing to hit a .650 OPS in your past four postseason series won't nudge people off the fence, even noting his famous bit of baserunning against Lucas Duda. Two weeks left in the regular season. Stay focused. You're not going to win your fantasy football league anyway. Here's a quick rundown on the important races to follow: Division races still up for grabs The New York Yankees last led the American League East on July 31, but have been closer than three games on just two days since Aug. 4, both times 2.5 games behind. You get the feeling that, if they could get it down to two games, then maybe the Boston Red http://www.officialmarinersonline.com/authentic-15-kyle-seager-jersey.html Sox feel that little added bit of pressure. The Yankees have gone 11-5 in September, but the Red Sox have gone 9-6. So Boston's lead is three games with 13 remaining. Remaining schedules (of course, the schedule-makers couldn't do the fun thing and schedule two Boston-New York series the final two weeks): Prediction: Tie. We deserve a tie somewhere, somehow. A tiebreaker game would be played Oct. 2, a Monday, with the loser then hosting the wild-card game on Oct. 3. Who would start that game? Right now, our pitching schedules have Chris Sale in line to start the final Sunday of the regular season, but it's much more likely he goes Wednesday-Monday-Saturday, which would give him four days of rest before the division series starts on Oct. 5. In other words, no matter how the rotation falls, he's unlikely to be in line to start either a division tiebreaker game OR a potential wild-card Authentic Lamarr Houston Womens Jersey game. Meanwhile, in the National League Central, the Chicago Cubs basically eliminated the St. Louis Cardinals with a three-game sweep this weekend. Their lead over the Milwaukee Brewers is four and the Cubs do play four in Milwaukee the final week -- and remember that the Brewers swept the Cubs at Wrigley last weekend. That road trip to Los Angeles and Arizona probably saved the Colorado Rockies' season -- they won all four games in L.A. and the first two in Arizona. With a 2.5-game lead over the Brewers, their odds of winning the second wild card register about 88 percent. They head out on another road trip, but it's to San Francisco for two games and San Diego for four, before finishing up at home against the Marlins and Dodgers. The Brewers are without ace Jimmy Nelson the rest of the way and have tough series against the Cubs and Cardinals. I was listening to the Kansas City Royals-Indians game on the radio on Sunday as Corey Kluber was spinning seven shutout innings and, at one point, the Indians broadcaster cheered that "Chris Sale has had a terrific season, but Corey Kluber has had a better season." My first thought was that enthusiasm may have been ripe with a little homerism, but http://www.bearsnflofficialproshop.com/lamarr-houston-jersey-for-sale-c-17.html it does feel like Kluber has the momentum. He now owns a notable lead in ERA and has cut into Sale's lead in innings and strikeouts: Kluber: 17-4, 2.35 ERA, 191.2 IP, 129 H, 34 BB, 252 SO, 7.1 bWAR, 6.5 fWAR Sale: 16-7, 2.86 ERA, 201.1 IP, 153 H, 41 BB, 287 SO, 5.9 bWAR, 7.6 fWAR Sale should get those final three starts, but Kluber may get only two more starts -- with an off day on Monday, he probably starts again on Saturday and then once the final week. If Sale gets to 300 strikeouts that could help his case, and he also owns the lead in FanGraphs WAR. It wouldn't surprise if Terry Francona backs off Kluber's pitch counts a little bit as well, although he'll have plenty of time off between his final start and the first game of the division series. Point being: I think it's still basically a coin flip. When Kluber won in 2014, he barely edged out Felix Hernandez. This one will be close as well.

Best rookie performances of Week 2: Deshaun Watson, Kareem Hunt star

Analysis: Hooker didn’t waste any Women's #8 Nike Limited Steve Young Red NFL Jersey - San Francisco 49ers Drift Fashion time showing why he was projected as a top-10 pick in last spring’s NFL draft and that the Colts made a wise decision in selecting him after he slid to pick No. 15. Hooker put an end to a drive that likely would have resulted in at least three points when he intercepted a Carson Palmer pass at the Colts' 3-yard line with just 1:34 remaining in the first half and the Colts holding on to a 10-3 lead. Hooker’s ball instincts allowed him to intercept seven passes and return three of them for touchdowns http://www.officialauthentics49ersshop.com/authentic-steve-young-jersey.html last season at Ohio State. Hooker, who missed all offseason workouts and part of training camp while working his way back from several injuries, started only because Darius Butler missed the game with a hamstring injury. “I thought our young guys in the back end played some really good football,” coach Chuck Pagano said. -- Mike Wells Analysis: Njoku seems to be growing up. He struggled early Trae Waynes Youth Jersey in camp, came on the second part of camp and now is playing with more confidence. His TD catch was a leaping grab toward the corner of the end zone. “I ran the route that was called, Kevin [Hogan] threw a great ball and I executed,” Njoku said. Njoku admitted the game is slowing down for him. As it does, he should play better. He had a drop late in the game, but his size and skills are evident. Learning the NFL game is a new experience. “It’s a very special moment catching your first professional touchdown, and hopefully by God’s grace there will be many more to come,” he said. -- Pat McManamon Analysis: Week 2 was much tougher than Week 1 for Fournette, who ran for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars’ victory over Houston in the season opener. Tennessee’s defensive game plan was evident from the beginning: Stop Fournette. The http://www.nflvikingsofficialonline.com/authentic-trae-waynes-jersey.html Titans put eight players in the box, and Fournette had little room to maneuver all day. His longest run was only 7 yards, and he had five carries that went for zero yards or 1 yard, though one was a 1-yard touchdown run. Fournette had only four carries in the second half, mainly because the Jaguars fell behind by double digits and were forced to abandon the run. -- Michael DiRocco Analysis: He continued to shoulder the load for the Vikings running backs and came within a yard of scoring his first touchdown. Out of 65 total plays, Cook was in on 37 snaps and turned 12 carries into 64 yards. The Vikings ran Cook out of the shotgun on a 25-yard outside rush he took all the way inside the 1-yard line. That play set up fullback C.J. Ham for a score on the next drive, the only time Minnesota made it into the end zone in Week 2. Minnesota found itself behind the chains often on Sunday, so Cook Ubaldo Jimenez Youth wasn’t utilized all that much in the passing game. He caught a 1-yard pass on the Vikings' first offensive series, but that gain was negated on another reception. For a second consecutive week, Cook picked up his run-blocking assignments and was the best thing going for the Vikings offense as it struggled in the absence of Sam Bradford. -- Courtney Cronin Analysis: The Steelers’ top draft choice, linebacker T.J. Watt, will make this list plenty of times and came up with a pass deflection Sunday. But Smith-Schuster showed he’s ready for physical football, too. The Steelers trusted him with a goal line shovel pass, and Smith-Schuster secured the ball and absorbed contact as he pushed into the end zone for a 4-yard TD. Smith-Schuster also delivered a vicious block on a running play for Le'Veon Bell. Miscues have been a problem for Smith-Schuster, who has three penalties through his first two games. Buthttp://www.authenticbaltimoreorioles.com/Ubaldo-Jimenez-Jersey that hasn’t swayed the team’s confidence in him. As the fourth receiver in a good offense, Smith-Schuster’s stock should continue to rise. -- Jeremy Fowler Analysis: Kizer’s day was as tough as his numbers indicate. Not only did he struggle on the field, he also missed a quarter with a migraine headache. Kizer said he had migraine issues in high school and his problem is hereditary. He also said he has a series of medications that clear things up quickly. On the field, he never looked in rhythm. The fumble was a result of holding the ball too long. His first interception was a pass he did not throw accurately that tipped off Duke Johnson to Ravens safety Eric Weddle. The second interception was a poor throw in the end zone, and the third was a forced throw. Attribute the game to going through rookie struggles. Coach Hue Jackson stood by him and will turn to him again Sunday in Indianapolis. But these are the kinds of days the Browns knew were coming when they went with Kizer as the starter this season. -- Pat McManamon

Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask: 'I have a good feeling about our group' this season

The Boston Bruins are looking to get younger, but Nolan Ryan Youth jersey one of their constants remains veteran goaltender Tuukka Rask. The 30-year-old set career highs last season in wins (37) and shutouts (eight), then underwent offseason groin surgery. After six weeks of recuperation and vacation in his native Finland, Rask says he's rejuvenated. In a conversation with ESPN last week in New York, Rask -- who won a Stanley Cup in 2011 and the Vezina Trophy in 2014 -- dishes http://www.authentichoustonastros.com/Nolan-Ryan-Jersey on the evolution of hockey in his native country, Patrik Laine-mania, why the NHL is not a goalie-friendly league and whether his kids will ever play hockey. ESPN.com: How has the NHL changed since you entered the league? Rask: It's been crazy. I've been in the league seven or eight years, and I feel like it's a totally different game now. The speed is the biggest thing. Every young player who comes into the league now seems to be flying out there. ESPN.com: It also seems like we've seen a huge influx of Finnish players. Rask: We've had some down years, but the past two or three years now we have had some very, very high prospects. They've done something right there. They should've done that to me. [laughs] ESPN.com: What do you attribute that to? Has Finland's Authentic Matt Joyce Womens jersey youth program or philosophy changed? Rask: I do think they modified their mindset -- and game plan -- [about] how to teach these kids. When we were growing up, it was all about fair play, [letting] everybody play. Team this, team that. Now I think they're paying attention to individuals, coaching [them] a little bit more and not making it all about everyone playing all the time. Now it's, 'The best team is playing, and let's try to make better individuals.' ESPN.com: Finland used to be a goalie factory. Is it still producing them? Rask: Everything is transferring to offense now. Everyone is talking about Laine now. Everyone wants to be Laine, a goal scorer. It used to be that everyone wanted to be goalie like [Miikka] Kiprusoff. ESPN.com: When you were back in Finland this summer, was everyone talking about Laine? Rask: He's all over the news. In the newspapers a lot. Every time you open the internet, there's something about him. People click it. ESPN.com: Do you know him at all? Rask: We live in the same town, but we played for rival teams. He's a lot younger http://www.authenticoaklandathletics.com/Matt-Joyce-Jersey than I am, but I spent time with him at the World Cup last year. He's a pretty quiet guy to begin with. He doesn't want to be in the spotlight, but it seems it comes with the territory, and he deals with it in a proper way. He's definitely not a guy who would be out there pushing himself in the media. It's impressive for a 19-year-old kid. ESPN.com: Is it the same level of fame as Teemu Selanne had? Rask: Oh, yeah. I guess it's because of their careers, because you can compare them [playing] with Winnipeg and whatnot. [The media] likes to hype that up. [Selanne has] gotten that status, and then [Laine is] going to have it. ESPN.com: Now that you're eight years in, do you ever feel like the old guy in the room? Rask: Not really. I'm pretty young at heart, so I Drew Smyly Youth jersey get along with these kids. I'm sure that moment will come at some point. Maybe that's when I'll be out and decide, 'I'm too old for this s---.' Sometimes a rock band is playing on the radio, like Metallica or whatnot. And [the younger players] are like, 'Who is this?' Kids have no idea. Then vice versa. They talk about these rappers and hip-hop stars and I'm like, 'I have no idea.' Rask: They can stop cutting down our gear. It's definitely not goalie-friendly, though. You can ask any goalie in the league and they'll tell you the same thing. But it's fun, we love it. I would be fine with that, cutting the gear down. Really. Just don't chirp me when I let in four or five goals. And I can't say, 'Hey, it was the pants. My gloves are too small.' ESPN.com: Do you think people are underestimating the Bruins this season? Rask: You tell me. I haven't read anything. I don't think we're going to be the top pick for the Stanley Cup. We're flying under the radar, I guess. But the league is so even nowadays, as we saw last year in the playoffs, that it doesn't matter where you end http://www.authentictampabayrays.com/Drew-Smyly-Jerseyup. As long as you get into the playoffs, you get a shot. We're same as any other team: we're just trying to be good enough to make the playoffs. I have a good feeling about our group after that. ESPN.com: The sports teams in Boston seem to have really good relationships. Have you become close with any other Boston athletes? Rask: I'm really good friends with Stephen Gostkowski, the Patriots kicker. We actually went to see their practice the other day. He was riding the bike for like an hour and a half and then didn't even kick the ball. I'm like, 'Is that boring, or what?' Stuff like that you don't get to see, so that's kind of cool. He's the only kicker. We've talked about [how similar our jobs are]; it's just him out there -- just like me -- and he has to kick that field goal.

Tigers' Matthew Boyd loses no-hit bid with 2 outs in ninth inning

DETROIT -- Matthew Boyd showed little emotion Adidas Authentic Matt Martin Youth Jersey when he lost a no-hit bit on Tim Anderson's two-out, ninth-inning double. Boyd calmly retired Yoan Moncada to finish his first professional shutout in the Detroit Tigers' 12-0 rout of the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. "There was nothing I could change at that point," Boyd said. "I just had to keep attacking and finish off the game." After retiring Adam Engel and pinch-hitter Kevan Smith to start the ninth, Boyd fell behind Anderson 2-0, then threw a changeup low on the outside corner. Anderson sliced it to the opposite http://www.authentictorontomapleleafs.com/authentic-matt-martin-jersey field, and it landed just short of the wall as right fielder Nick Castellanos gave chase. "I executed my pitch, and he hit it," Boyd said. Anderson was ready for an off-speed pitch. "I was just kind of looking for something slow," he said. "I thought he might throw a changeup there, because he'd been doing it to me all game." Boyd (6-10) allowed only two runners -- a walk to Rob Brantly in the third and Anderson's double. He struck out five and threw 121 pitches -- his big-league high. "That's the best slider he's had since he got here, and his other pitches were all good as Reebok NHL Men's Josh Gorges Navy Blue Home Authentic Jersey - #4 Buffalo Sabres well," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "Obviously, you aren't going to throw a no-hitter for 8 2/3 innings without everything working." The 26-year-old had not thrown a complete game in 52 previous major league starts and had never thrown a nine-inning complete game in 121 previous professional starts. His only previous complete games were an eight-inning three-hitter for Triple-A Toledo in a 1-0 loss to Durham this July and a seven-inning 3-1 win for Class A Dunedin over Daytona in 2014. "When you get ready for the season, you train to pitch deep into October," Boyd said. "You shouldn't be tired in the middle of September." Miami's Edinson Volquez has the only no-hitter in the majors this year, against Arizona on June 3. This was the sixth time this season that a no-hitter was broken up in the ninth inning or later -- and Boyd was the first pitcher to have his bid broken up with one out to go. Castellanos was playing his 10th big league game in right field, a position he was moved to this month to let Jeimer Candelario play third base. However, Anderson's hit would have been a tough play for anyone. Ausmus, who regularly used defensive replacements for http://www.officialbuffalosabres.com/Adidas-Josh-Gorges-Jersey Castellanos at third base, was angered when asked whether he had considered a change in right. "That's a bad question, because no one would have caught that ball, and if the hit doesn't go to right, no one even asks me about it," Ausmus said. "I've defended for Nick to win games. I'm not going to do it with a 12-0 lead." Chicago, which has not been no-hit since 2011, broke up a bid by Colorado's Kyle Freeland in the ninth inning July 9. "I wasn't even thinking about that," White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. "I just wanted to grab a bat." Detroit hasn't had a no-hitter since Justin Verlander's at Toronto on May 7, 2011. Catcher Bryan Holaday, who debuted with the Tigers the next year, seemed more upset than Boyd about Anderson's hit. "It is a just Seth Jonesy Womens Jersey as much of a dream for us as the pitchers, because we're working together the whole game," he said. Boyd, acquired in 2015 when the Tigers traded David Price to Toronto, was helped a couple times by fine defensive plays. Shortstop Dixon Machado went deep into the hole to field Avisail Garcia's second-inning grounder, and first baseman Efren Navarro made an over-the-shoulder catch of Anderson's foul pop in the sixth. Chicago starter Dylan Covey (0-6) allowed five runs, seven hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings. Castellanos extended his hitting streak to a career-long 14 games with a two-run double in the third, and Mikie Mahtook's two-run homer off Chris Beck made it 7-0 in the fifth, leaving the focus squarely on Boyd. Castellanos kept Detroit's offense rolling in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run homer, and Candelario's three-run shot in the eighth made it 12-0. The crowd let out http://www.officialcolumbusbluejackets.com/Adidas-Seth-Jones-Jersey a roar when Boyd took the mound for the ninth. He retired Engel on a foul popup to third and grounded out to second. Three pitches later, Anderson silenced the crowd. White Sox: Willy Garcia started in left, his first game action since suffering a broken jaw and concussion in a July 31 collision with Moncada. Tigers: Cabrera had the day off after leaving Saturday's game with chronic back pain. Ausmus said Cabrera, who has been dealing with the problem all season, will continue to play in the season's final two weeks.

Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez gave fans the fight they wanted

LAS VEGAS -- In 1981, all-time greats Sugar Ray Leonard and Elite Nike Men's James Brewer Green Home Jersey: NFL #69 New York Jets Thomas Hearns, two of the most accomplished, popular and exciting fighters of their time, battled for welterweight supremacy in a classic fight that is still talked about to this day. The highly anticipated confrontation at Caesars Palace is a major part of the Hall of Fame legacy of both men. It was a very competitive http://www.jetsshopnfl.com/james-brewer-jersey_c-450.htmlfight that ended with Leonard stopping a spent Hearns as he sagged against the ropes in the 14th round to unify 147-pound titles back when a boxer needed only two belts to become the undisputed world champion in his weight class. Thirty-six years later to the day, Sept. 16, 2017, Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez met for similar stakes in the middleweight division -- Golovkin's three title belts and Alvarez's claim to the lineal championship -- just down the street before a venue-record 22,358 at the T-Mobile Arena. And like Leonard and Hearns, Golovkin and Alvarez are two of the most accomplished, popular Authentic Vernon Hargreaves III Youth Jersey and exciting fighters of their time and both are on a trajectory that figures to land them in the International Boxing Hall Fame someday. Their fight did not have the conclusive ending of Leonard-Hearns -- after which boxing fans were wrapped up discussing the greatness of the bout and the greatness of the men involved. There should be a similar conversation taking place today about GGG and Canelo, who throughout the promotion of their event talked endlessly about giving the fans a "a real fight" (a legitimate dig at the circus/money grab between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor three weeks earlier at the same arena) and giving the fans the fight they have wanted so badly for the past 18 months. Indeed, Canelo-GGG delivered on the promise of extreme combat. It was a hellacious battle that won't soon be forgotten. They both covered themselves in glory in a very competitive, action-packed fight. They both threw and landed heavy blows. They gave us thrills. They gave us the fight we hoped for. It won't wind up as the fight of the year, but it's going to be up there, even if it didn't have the drama or momentum swings of the Anthony Joshua-Wladimir Klitschko http://www.tampabaybuccaneersauthorizedstore.com/vernon-hargreaves-iii-jersey-elite heavyweight championship fight that took place in April or the bloody, unmitigated violence of the epic first junior bantamweight world title fight between Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez on a Golovkin undercard in March. But whether it's the fight of the year or not is not the point. The point is we should all be talking about the greatness of the Canelo-GGG war. We should be celebrating a wonderful night for the great sport of boxing. We should be discussing in great detail about how Golovkin (37-0-1, 33 KOs) looked like he might have Alvarez in real trouble in the middle rounds when Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) was backing up for long stretches after absorbing many punishing shots. We should be breaking down how Alvarez came roaring back to take it to GGG in the late rounds. We should be bantering about how Golovkin has moved to within one title defense Rodney McLeod Youth Jersey of tying the great Bernard Hopkins' middleweight division record of 20 in a row. And we should be lauding both men for their chins, for their exceptional conditioning, for their willingness to shine in the crucible of such an intense and grueling fight. Sadly, most are not. Instead, the postfight discourse and social media outcry has primarily been about one absolutely wretched scorecard turned in by judge Adalaide Byrd, whose 118-110 tally in favor of Alvarez will go down as one of the worst, most nauseating in boxing history. Over the years I have met Byrd several times. She is a nice woman. She loves boxing. Her husband, Robert Byrd, is one of the best referees in the sport and did a fine job working the Diego De La Hoya-Randy Caballero undercard bout just as he did last month when he was handed the extremely high-profile assignment of Mayweather-McGregor. Unfortunately, however, Adalaide http://www.philadelphiaeaglesauthorizedstore.com/rodney-mcleod-jersey-elite Byrd was not watching what the rest of the world was on Saturday night. Her ringside judging colleagues Dave Moretti (115-113 for GGG) and Don Trella (114-114) were at least on the same page. I had it 116-112 for Golovkin, as did HBO's unofficial judge Harold Lederman, but there were some close rounds, so I can live with the 115-113 scorecard. And I can deal with 114-114 even though I strongly felt Golovkin won. But Byrd's card? Indefensible. Not acceptable. At all. Even Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett, who generally bends over backward to protect his officials, couldn't sugarcoat it. After complimenting Byrd's general work, he admitted she had a bad night. "In any business sometimes you have a bad day. She saw the fight differently (than the other judges). It happens," Bennett said.

Cowboys humiliated by the Broncos in all phases

DENVER -- Remember all those good #14 Sean Mannion Youth Jersey feelings from the Dallas Cowboys' season-opening win against the New York Giants? How are you feeling after seeing the Cowboys humiliated by the Denver Broncos, 42-17, Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High? A defense that allowed just three points in Week 1 was shredded by Trevor Siemian, who became the first quarterback to throw four touchdown passes against Dallas since 2013. An offense that made its identity on a running game by Ezekiel Elliott was stoned by a defense even before the score got so out of whack the Cowboys had to throw it more. Dak Prescott, who http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Sean-Mannion-Jersey.html never gets flustered, got flustered in losing his first road game against a nondivision team in his short career. The hour-plus weather delay in the first quarter only delayed the inevitable. Elliott entered the game with a chance of setting an NFL record for most consecutive games with at least 80 yards rushing at 16. He left Denver with 8 yards on nine carries, easily the lowest mark of his brief career. Elliott’s previous low was 51 yards in last year’s season opener. His previous low carry total was 12 against the Detroit Lions in Week 16. The Cowboys, however, took Authentic Janoris Jenkins Youth Jersey Elliott out of the game early by calling passes on 10 of their first 15 plays. Prescott, who needed both ankles taped after a 7-yard scramble because of an awkward takedown at the end of the first quarter, threw two touchdown passes and was intercepted once, but Dez Bryant saved two turnovers by turning into a defensive back. Prescott attempted a career-high 50 passes and completed 30 for just 238 yards, but on his final attempt he was picked off by Aqib Talib, who returned the turnover 103 yards for the touchdown that led to the third-worst loss of the Jason Garrett era. Defensively, the Cowboys entered the game without Orlando Scandrick because of a broken hand and by the second quarter were without cornerbacks Nolan Carroll (concussion) and Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring). They had two healthy corners in Anthony Brown and rookie Jourdan Lewis, who http://www.nygiantsofficialstore.com/janoris-jenkins-jersey-for-sale-c-22.html was playing his first game. Siemian beat Lewis, who had four full practices all summer, for two of his touchdown passes. The last quarterback to throw four touchdown passes in a game against the Cowboys was Green Bay’s Matt Flynn on Dec. 15, 2013. The Cowboys did not allow a 100-yard rusher last year, but C.J. Anderson became the first back to go for 100 yards against Dallas since current Cowboy Alfred Morris in the 2015 season finale when he played for the Washington Redskins. After giving up 233 yards and 13 first downs against the Giants in four quarters, they allowed 246 yards and 17 first downs in the first half. The Broncos converted on all eight of their third-down opportunities in the first half. The good news Authentic Chris Clark Youth Jersey for the Cowboys is they will get an extra day to prepare for their next game, Sept. 25 at the Arizona Cardinals. Prepare or recover, however you want to look at it. Don't make Tom angry. You wouldn't like Tom when he's angry. On second thought, fantasy players most certainly would like Tom Brady when he's angry -- or in this case, reeling from an embarrassing, unexpected loss in the Thursday night Week 1 opener -- as we're the ones who reap the statistical rewards. Brady lit up the New Orleans Saints' defense, leading his New England Patriots to a 36-20 victory in which he managed 30.8 fantasy points -- best-among the early Sunday games. Predictably, you can expect to see a lot of Patriots on the "winning" side of this week's column. As we do each week, we recap the week's winners and losers from a fantasy perspective, complete with applicable http://www.houstontexansjerseystore.com/Chris_Clark_Jersey_Cheapgame and historical data. Check back after the conclusion of the 1 and 4 p.m. ET (and, when applicable, Sunday Night Football) games for our picks of the week's best and worst. Javorius Allen, RB, Baltimore Ravens: Danny Woodhead's fill-in had one of the most productive fantasy scores of Week 2, and don't overlook that Allen paced the Ravens' backfield with 14 carries to Terrance West's 8 and Alex Collins' 7. The result was 21.1 PPR and 16.1 non-PPR fantasy points, both of which were the third-best totals in his career. Yes, game flow probably had something to do with Allen's rushing usage, but that's now the second consecutive week that was the case, signaling the team's interest in keeping West's workload in check, and West's 2.8 yards per carry paled in comparison to Allen's 4.7. Allen might now be one of Week 3's most-added players -- rightfully so -- in the 59.3 percent of ESPN leagues in which he remains available. To those considering him, be aware that he was the No. 4 running back in terms of PPR fantasy points (117.0) and No. 9 in non-PPR (79.0) during the second half of the 2015 season (Weeks 10-17).

Fantasy hockey sleepers for 2017-18

Auston Matthews, C, Toronto Maple Leafs (29th) There Authentic Joe Barksdale Youth Jersey is a very good chance that we, the collective fantasy hockey community, just aren't ready to accept the fact that we could have a second generational player developing in lockstep and only a year behind another. Matthews has all the opportunity in the world to be 2016-17 Connor McDavid, version 2.0. He's being ranked (No. 29) and drafted (ADP of 18.0) ahead of the value he finished with last season (No. 43 on the ESPN Player Rater), but not by much. Remember that he turned in that value while playing just 17:38 per game, which http://www.officialnikechargershop.com/joe-barksdale-jersey-for-sale-c-31.html ranked 90th among NHL forwards last season. Coach Mike Babcock doesn't have to give Matthews more ice time, but with a win-now attitude in Toronto, here's betting he starts getting it. And this isn't even mentioning yet that Patrick Marleau is a huge upgrade over Zach Hyman on the wing. For one, let's remember that Arvidsson didn't start last season on the top line for the Predators. In fact, he averaged 14:00 per game in October and slowly worked his way onto a unit with Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg. Yet, despite that muted start, Arvidsson finished with 31 goals and 30 assists, complemented by a whopping 246 shots on goal. At 17:09 of ice time per game last season, Arvidsson had the lowest minutes of all NHLers who finished among the top-20 for shots on goal. Still just 24 years old, Arvidsson should be pegged for improvement, but instead, he is being drafted for Authentic Justin Pugh Womens Jersey regression with an ADP of 126.0. Last season, Stepan finished 24th among all centers and 42nd among all forwards for fantasy value on the ESPN Player Rater. So far this season, he's being drafted 39th among all centers and 90th among all forwards with an ADP of 141.2. He's being drafted as if the Coyotes traded for him in order to bring him out to the desert and rot. That is obviously not the case. Stepan, though only 27, will be a veteran leader for a crop of kids that includes Dylan Strome, Clayton Keller, Christian Dvorak, Anthony Duclair, Brendan Perlini and Max Domi - all of whom are 22 or younger. Stepan will be this team's only top-six forward who wasn't in diapers when the franchise was still in Winnipeg. Bottom http://www.authenticnikegiantshop.com/Justin-Pugh-Jerseyline: He's going to be depended on for a lot of scoring situations and should push his already fantasy-relevant totals even higher. Not even showing up among the top 200 for ADP in early drafts, Larkin begs forgiveness for a sophomore slump of epic proportions. Let's not forget that he turned in 23 goals and 45 points in a rookie campaign that came out of left field in 2015-16. His totals plummeted last season as the Red Wings struggled throughout the lineup. Assuming the team as a whole trends back toward their collective talent levels, Larkin could emerge as a leader for the group. You won't find too many other guys that are already NHL-tested and have 30-goal potential after the 200th pick in your draft. Injuries last season prevented Fabbri Kevin Huber Womens Jersey from building on a successful 2015-16 rookie campaign. He's still only 21 years old and is being pegged for a move to center this season. While, that may seem troubling on paper with Brayden Schenn coming to town and Paul Stastny already residing there, this deserves a second look. Vladimir Tarasenko needs a new center, with Jori Lehtera now gone, and we know already that Stastny doesn't click in that role. Schenn has been playing the wing throughout his tenure with the Flyers and could just as easily stay there. It won't take much for Fabbri to push up the depth chart and earn a connection with Tarasenko on the top line. Ryan Strome, C, Edmonton Oilers (NR) "Strome drips with creative offense and could be a huge boon to the Islanders when he is ready for a top-six role, but that might not be right away. There are plenty of danglers that have made junior hockey opponents look silly only to never find their defensive feet in the NHL." That's what I wrote about Strome in September 2013. I've been waiting for this kid to hit the big time for some time. Swappedhttp://www.bengalsshopfootball.com/bengals+kevin+huber+jerseyfor Jordan Eberle in the offseason, Strome gets a fresh start in Edmonton where early projections have him playing on a line with Connor McDavid. We'd be talking about where to draft a sack of onions if it was pegged to share the ice in the offensive zone with McDavid, but the fact is that we are talking about a 24-year-old who has scored at better than a point per game for his career at every level except the NHL. Strome certainly struggled with his 200-foot game in Long Island, but McDavid erases a lot of those concerns with his own ability. The sky is the limit here, but just don't get too cute. The Oilers have lots of other options, and Strome has zero fantasy value as a bottom-six forward.

Indians' dominance rewrites story of 2017 season

CHICAGO -- The Cleveland Indians' winning streak is Authentic Brian McCann Womens jersey amazing: 21 games and counting. But it means nothing. It's championship or bust for these Indians. Division titles are great -- Cleveland is on the verge of clinching its second straight AL Central crown and ninth of the wild-card era -- but another one means nothing. Pennants are great, too. After all, Cleveland won one last year, and that was only its fourth since the franchise's last World Series crown in 1948. You know what another one this year would mean? Nothing. This is not really a controversial observation. It's the simple reality for a franchise that inherited the mantle of baseball's longest World Series title drought just 10 months ago, when the team lost to the Chicago http://www.authentichoustonastros.com/Brian-Mccann-JerseyCubs in seven unforgettable games. Maybe that's why, despite their amazing on-field feats of the past few weeks, the Indians still walk around like protagonists in an Albert Camus novel. As with Camus, it's not an act. It's a philosophy. "I don't know if we look at it as that much of a big picture," Indians ace Corey Kluber said last week during the team's stop in Chicago. "We're just showing up each day and trying to win that game. Guys are having fun and just showing up to win that day's game. If we do, great. If we don't, then try to move on." When Tom Thibodeau, whom Authentic Santiago Casilla Youth jersey I greatly admire, was coaching the Chicago Bulls, I used to refer to him as "belligerently dull." He gave the media nothing, he knew he gave the media nothing, and he delighted in giving the media nothing. Hence the belligerent quality of his dullness. The Indians' dullness isn't belligerent. It's more congenial. They are polite and cooperative. They really seem to enjoy their jobs. They just don't say anything. "The winning streak is enjoyable, and I think it's gotten people's attention," Francona said. "And I think http://www.authenticoaklandathletics.com/Santiago-Casilla-Jersey that's given me a chance to brag on our guys a little bit, which I love. Other than that, we'll go play tomorrow." The Indians have never been better positioned to win a title since the 1948 champs broke through. Well, that's not precisely true. The Indians were pretty well positioned to win last year, when they held a 3-1 lead over the Chicago Cubs in the Fall Classic. They were also right there when the 1997 World Series matchup with Florida went to a seventh game. And they made it to the World Series -- and lost -- in 1954 and 1995. Entering game play Wednesday, Kluber (No. 7), Ramirez (No. 13) and Lindor (No. 15) all were on pace to finish in the top 15 in Fangraph's version of WAR. Only Colorado (Charlie Blackman and Nolan Arenado) also has two players in the top 15.Of all the emergent star power on the Indians, no one typifies the team more in performance or personality than Kluber, who has long toiled under the nickname of "Klubot." It's an unfortunate moniker because Kluber is less an automaton than he is a Hemingway hero. Stoic. Professional. And while I don't know if Kluber writes like Hemingway, he certainly gives him a run when it comes to conciseness and understatement.

What NFL coaches and players are saying about CFL eliminating padded practices

After seeing his first NFL action in Week 1, Houston Anton Forsberg Youth Jersey Texans rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson gets his first professional start in prime time on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals. Here’s a closer look at Watson's first NFL start: Through two drives, an early thought on Deshaun Watson: Of his three pass attempts (1 of 3), all of them weren't at the level of accuracy he would have liked. That lack of accuracy also showed up in the Patriots-Texans Week 2 preseason game in which Tom Savage had outplayed him. One thing the Texans are watching with DeShaun Watson tonight is the http://www.officialcolumbusbluejackets.com/Adidas-Anton-Forsberg-Jersey way he handles the Bengals' pressure packages. The coaches want to see how Watson adjusts the protection pre-snap and whether he can take advantage when the Bengals don't blitz. Watson is a work in progress who's starting mainly because the Texans' offensive line woes convinced them they need more mobility at QB in order to succeed right now. So the team's evaluation of him is that of a young player still developing. Important to remember. Deshaun Watson's first series of the game was a three-and-out after incomplete passes on second and third down. It appeared his throw Evander Kane Youth Jersey to DeAndre Hopkins was a little low, and his throw to Braxton Miller was high. The Canadian Football League eliminated pads from all regular-season practices Wednesday, a policy that began immediately. Will the CFL’s decision impact the NFL’s current collective bargaining agreement, which limits padded practices to 14 during the regular season, 11 of which must come in the first 11 weeks of the season? Asked if the NFL would consider a policy similar to that of the CFL, via a negotiation with the NFL Players Association, a league spokesman said: "We are eager to discuss with the union at the earliest possible time health and safety matters and all other issues covered by the CBA." Here’s how NFL players and coaches reacted to the CFL’s decision: “That’s the Canadian Football League. This is real, live NFL. It’s not going to happen. I don’t know if that’s something that we want to do http://www.officialbuffalosabres.com/Adidas-Evander-Kane-Jersey anyway. I’m big on putting the pads on here and there and actually feeling another person as far as hitting and things like that throughout the week. I can’t really agree with the no pads. Probably when it gets later within the year taking them off is pretty good.” In order to play our game, which is a little different than the CFL game ... I think you’re more at risk if you don’t practice some of the things you need to than not at risk.” New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, who added that the Saints never have used their full allotment of 14 padded practices in-season since the new CBA began in 2011. “I don’t know exactly when it was, but I’ve been doing this for a long time, and we’ve just done it [practicing without pads and helmets] more extensively Adidas Authentic Morgan Rielly Womens Jersey in the last couple years because our guys bought into how to do it. You still have to practice with great speed and all that, and they have to cooperate with one another, and we did it throughout our entire offseasons as well, and we’re just trying to learn and see what you can get done and how far you can take it, and I’ve not been dissatisfied with the way that it turned out." “I think the game is safer than it’s ever been because of the rule changes that the NFL and now the CFL has made. I think that's good for everybody. But it's a great game and being physical is a part of this game, and we believe you have to practice that. You practice that in training camp, and when we get a chance to do that during the week, we try to take full advantage of it.” “I’m not quite sure where that fits in the NFL because I do think there is a need to have some type of physical contact to prepare yourself. So we’ll continue to look at it. But as a football player, you want to have pads off, but at the same time, there’s a fine line where http://www.authentictorontomapleleafs.com/authentic-morgan-rielly-jersey you need to be prepared for the game, make sure you have good pad level. Smart coaches understand their team.” “Two of my friends play over there and I told them, ‘You’re pretty lucky you don’t have any more padded practices.’ But it’s different. It’s not many times we tackle live in practice anyway, just because of the risk of injury and all of that stuff. I don’t know; I think it’s tough overall, as a football team, to get better without any ... you go full pads all the way into the end of training camp and then for the rest of the year you’re only full pads once a week on game day. I think that’s a little tough as a football player to be able to do. I guess they’ll test it, study it, and see, but I don’t see that coming any time soon for us here. But who knows, if it extends their career, I’m all for it.”

Gennady Golovkin has waited years for a career-defining superfight. On Sept. 16 against Canelo Alvarez, he finally gets one.

This story appears in ESPN The Magazine's Jay Beagle Womens Jersey Sept. 18 NFL Preview Issue. Subscribe today! t is, conservatively speaking, about 9 million degrees inside Abel Sanchez's boxing gym in Big Bear Lake, California, and still his prized fighter, world middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin, is in the ring doing chin pushups -- wearing a hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants. Yes, chin pushups. Arms behind his back, his chin rests on a towel, bearing the full weight of his 170-pound frame. He dips within inches of the canvas and rises back up. At the end of the set, he turns on his back, wraps the towel around his head and face, loops a rope with a weight attached to the end of it around his neck and does a set of what can only be described as blind, hanging, weighted neck http://www.officialwashingtoncapitals.com/Adidas-Jay-Beagle-Jersey crunches. Golovkin conditions each part of his sinewy frame like this, in rigorous isolation drills. The chin must withstand pain. The neck must be strong enough to absorb punches. To give him strength to fight inside, he works his forearms -- which he often has trouble fitting in the sleeves of a normal dress shirt -- with resistance bands and a homemade contraption of steel and rope pulleys that his trainer affectionately calls "the machine." Decades of such rigorous training have seen Golovkin establish himself as one of the best fighters of his generation. He has defended his middleweight title 18 times over the past seven years, putting him within range of Bernard Hopkins' record of 20 defenses in his division. So it's not surprising that he's had trouble persuading boxing's biggest names to get into the ring with him. "I understand," Golovkin says. "It's too dangerous. Sometimes it doesn't matter how much money [you offer]; people don't want to lose reputation." This happens far too often in boxing -- the best fighters simply don't fight one another. It's why Golovkin's Sept. 16 showdown Reebok NHL Men's Patrick Marleau Teal Green Home Authentic Jersey - #12 San Jose Sharkswith Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez is being billed as the superfight that actually will live up to the hype, after Alvarez's dud against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in May, Floyd Mayweather's bore against Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and whatever the hell you want to call the Aug. 26 fight between Mayweather and Conor McGregor. But for Golovkin, the showdown with Alvarez is something far simpler than a bout to save boxing: It's the fight he's waited his entire life for. Finally, the stage matches his skill and reputation. Finally, a top-flight opponent is willing to risk something of real consequence to fight him. Finally, a fight feels fair and important, even historic. "He never really believed that he was going to get to where he's at right now because everybody screwed him along the way," Sanchez says. When Golovkin lost a controversial decision to Russia's Gaydarbek Gaydarbekov in the gold medal fight of the 2004 Olympics, his disillusionment nearly drove him into early retirement. When http://www.officialsanjosesharks.com/Adidas-Patrick-Marleau-Jersey Europe's top fighters refused to get into the ring, afraid a no-name boxer would beat them, he worried he might spend his best years in purgatory. In 2010, he left for the United States at the relatively old age of 28, looking for a trainer who could help him get his shot. Sanchez remembers fondly the call that sealed a seven-year relationship with his fighter. A man claiming to be Golovkin's manager called from an unknown number and said Golovkin was arriving at Los Angeles International Airport from Kazakhstan the next day -- could Sanchez pick him up? "Aeroflot at 2 p.m.," Sanchez says, smiling at the memory. "Then he comes up the tunnel with one little bag." One bag? For two months of training in the United States? INSIDE SANCHEZ'S TWO-STORY Marcus Cannon Womens Jersey compound, the latest Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev fight is playing on the big-screen TV near the ring. Gennady is working out alongside his twin brother, Max, on an adjacent training table. Both steal glances at the TV each time they come to the top of a situp. The brothers almost move in tandem through their sets of core exercises. At one point, Max motions for Gennady to lie down, face-first, in the ring, then massages his neck and back. Max, who http://www.newenglandpatriotsauthorizedstore.com/marcus-cannon-jersey-elite trains with his brother before almost every fight, flying to California from Kazakhstan, is the only member of Golovkin's family invited to be a part of his boxing. Their mother, Elizaveta, has not attended any of Gennady's nearly 400 amateur and professional fights. His father, Gennady Sr., was allowed to attend just one of Golovkin's fights before he died in 2014. Gennady's wife, Alina, and their 8-year-old son, Vadim, do not come to his fights.

Vernon Fiddler announces retirement after 877 games in NHL

The 5-foot-11 center says he thought the New Youth Steven Stamkos Premier Royal Blue Reebok Jersey: NHL Tampa Bay Lightning #91 Third 2015 Stanley CupJersey Devils would be his final team when he signed during the 2016 offseason. He finished with 104 goals and 261 points and also played for the Coyotes http://www.officiallightningproshop.com/Steven_Stamkos_Jerseyand Dallas. PITTSBURGH -- Penguins defenseman Kris Letang has been cleared for contact before training camp opens Friday. Letang, who underwent season-ending neck surgery on April 13 to repair a herniated disk, said he felt healthy Tuesday but continues to take his recovery one day at a time. He hopes to play when the defending Stanley Cup champions open their regular season against the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 4. "Health is pretty good," Letang said. "I've been working out all summer. I was restrained at the beginning, but I got the clearance to start running and skating around July 5. Pretty full summer. ... We'll just start and go day by day. I got cleared to have contact and skate with the team. We'll see Authentic J.T. Thomas Womens Jersey how it goes the first few days and we'll increase the workload." Letang had five goals and 29 assists in 41 games while battling various injuries last season. Throughout that season, Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said he would like Letang to adjust his style and avoid unnecessary hits. If it's up to Letang, nothing will change. He plans to average over 25 minutes per game again in 2017-18. "(Playing at least 25 minutes is) what I want to do," Letang said. "That's part of my game, the way I play. So, obviously, it's the goal. I have no expectation. I'm just going to go like I always did and go from there. "There's certain things to avoid, that's for sure. But it's not going to change my game. ... I'm http://www.nygiantsofficialstore.com/jt-thomas-jersey-for-sale-c-19.html healthy. That's the only thing I know. So, I don't know why I would rest. The energy is going to be there, for sure." Letang hasn't played since Feb. 2, when he had one assist in 28:49 against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Penguins announced April 5 that Letang would miss four to six months after undergoing neck surgery. The surgery was successful, albeit slightly frightening for Pittsburgh's defensive leader. "When I woke up, it was hard," Letang said. "I'm not going to lie. It was a tough first two weeks. A lot goes through your mind, but after that, I got more confidence. When the guys were playing, I was actually able to work out, do little things. I got my confidence back then that I was going to be healthy." SEATTLE -- A proposal to remodel KeyArena now has an ambitious timeline that could have it ready to house a professional franchise within three years. The timeline was laid out in a proposed #76 Rodger Saffold Womens Jerseymemorandum of understanding between Seattle and Oak View Group. The memo will be presented to the Seattle City Council on Tuesday but the final version of the agreement won't be voted on until the first week of December at the earliest. The draft agreement is a significant step in the process of redeveloping the city-owned building through a privately financed project that officials believe will finally lure the NHL or NBA -- or both -- to Seattle. KeyArena housed the NBA's SuperSonics until they relocated to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder. Oak View Group believes it can have the building ready by October 2020 if environmental approvals are obtained and demolition can start in October 2018. "I think the most important part of this MOU is the fact it states very clearly to the leagues that this project is going to happen, we do have a deal with the city, they http://www.authenticramsofficialshop.com/Nike-Rodger-Saffold-Jersey.html can make a deal. They are very focused ultimately not only on building a new arena here and giving us the partnership and certainty in order to do that," OVG CEO Tim Leiweke said. "But more importantly it sends a very strong message now to the NBA and to the NHL that everyone worried about, 'Yeah will it ever get done with the city? Will they ever be able to get to the finish line? Will you ever possibly get this deal done within the politics of Seattle and the Seattle process as everyone likes to call it?'" Leiweke said. "Guess what? Game, set and match. We clearly send a message to everyone that this will get done, this will get built and we are ready now to go get one and hopefully soon, two teams."

In a perfect world, manager John Farrell would http://www.officialmavericksproshop.com/authentic-34-devin-harris-jersey.html give the ball to David Price. Even considering his 0-8 record and 5.74 ERA in nine postseason starts, Price is a Cy Young Award winner (2012). He hasn't pitched since July 22 because of an injury to his left elbow/triceps, his second prolonged stint on the disabled list this season. Last year, Rick Porcello started the 2016 Division Series opener, pushing Price back to Game 2 on the strength of a 22-4 regular-season record that earned him the Cy Young nod. As a reward for his breakthrough season, Porcello also got the ball on Opening Day 2017. There haven't been many highlights since. With the 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, Porcello's record dropped to 9-17. He has a 4.64 ERA and has given Jackie Bradley Jr #25 Womens jersey up 35 homers, tied with Seattle's Ariel Miranda for most in the majors. He was hit hard by the Astros during a June series in Houston and hasn't faced the Indians since they knocked him around for five runs in 4 1/3 innings in Game 1 last year. If Porcello is a Game 2 consideration, it would be because of his home-road splits. He has a 5.30 ERA in 18 starts at Fenway Park compared to a 3.74 mark in 12 starts on the road, and the Red Sox likely will be away for the first two games of the Division Series. "Wins and losses, a lot of that is out of his control," Farrell says. "There’s been a number of games in which he’s kept us in a position to win, he’s pitched well enough to win and some of those days he’s come up empty." If Farrell is really running a meritocracy, Drew Pomeranz is the choice for Game 2. While Sale is clearly the Red Sox's best pitcher, Pomeranz presents a strong case as their most consistent. He has allowed three runs or fewer in 14 of his last 16 starts -- and 23 of 28 starts overall -- and won nine of his last 10 decisions. This is the best Pomeranz has pitched since at least the first half of last season when he was an All-Star with the San Diego Padres. To hear him tell it, this run has been even better. "I was one-dimensional at times when I was over there," Pomeranz says. "I had a good curveball and a good glove-side fastball. Now, I think I've developed a lot of things to help me win games and help me make pitches." The knock on Pomeranz: His inability to pitch deep in games. The big lefty has completed http://www.officialauthenticredsox.com/authentic-25-jackie-bradley-jr-jersey.html seven innings once all season (May 31 against the league-worst Chicago White Sox) and pitched into the seventh only eight times. He also has thrown 2,741 pitches, 100 shy of his career high set last season, and likely will make four more starts in the regular season. So much of the way a rotation is arranged for the playoffs depends on matchups. Pomeranz has pitched well against both the Indians and Astros this season. He also has been nearly as effective on the road (7-3, 3.45 ERA in 14 starts) and at home (8-2, 3.24 ERA in 14 starts), leaving little reason he shouldn't line up behind Sale. When the season began, Doug Fister was sitting at home, waiting for the phone to ring. On Memorial Day, he was in Triple-A Matt Belisle #9 jersey with the Los Angeles Angels. On July 4, two weeks after the Red Sox claimed him off waivers, he was a rotation placeholder for injured lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. Lately, though, Fister has been the Red Sox's best starter, outpitching even Sale. In his last seven starts, Fister has a 2.79 ERA and is holding opponents to a .194 average. The 33-year-old sinkerballer has defeated the Indians twice, including a one-hitter Aug. 22 in Cleveland, and the Yankees once. He has completed at least seven innings in four consecutive starts and five of his last seven. "He has been such a boost," Farrell says. Red Sox president Dave Dombrowski has seen Fister do it before. In 2011, after being acquired by Dombrowski at the trade deadline, Fister went 8-1 with a 1.79 ERA down the stretch for the Detroit Tigers. In a rotation that included Verlander and Max Scherzer, Fister started Game 1 of the Division Series against the Yankees. That won't happen this year, as long as Sale stays healthy and the Red Sox are able to line up their rotation, but it suddenly http://www.authentictwinshop.com/authentic-9-matt-belisle-jersey.html isn't crazy to think Fister could start Game 2, a possibility that he insists is "the furthest thing from my mind right now." "It's definitely a blessing," Fister says of the opportunity he has gotten with the Red Sox. "I look at it as something that kind of, I don’t know, resparked, turned things around, whatever you may call it. It definitely put me in the right position."

If Ezekiel Elliott doesn't miss time, are the Cowboys now the clear favorite in the NFC East?

Dan Graziano, national NFL writer: Broncos Joaquin Benoit #53 Youth jersey over Cowboys. I'm not overly bullish on this Broncos team, but I don't think it deserves to be a home underdog to Dallas. The Broncos looked better against the run Monday than they did in 2016, and until the fourth-quarter turnovers set in, Trevor Siemian was in control against a Chargers defense that has a lot more difference-makers than Dallas. Give me Denver to start 2-0 at home. Mike Sando, senior NFL writer: Bears over Bucs. I don't see a great one, but the Bears can win at Tampa Bay under unusual circumstances. The Buccaneers http://www.officialmarinersonline.com/authentic-joaquin-benoit-jersey.html could be a little rusty coming off a disruptive Week 1. Jameis Winston has not yet shown he will protect the football. The Bucs will be plenty familiar with Mike Glennon, but Glennon also will know their defense inside and out. Aaron Schatz, editor of Football Outsiders: Eagles over Chiefs. The Chiefs had an offensive field day against the Patriots in Week 1, but that's partly because the Pats' defensive strength (outside cornerbacks) badly matches up with the strength of the Chiefs' offense (tight end, running back, crossing patterns). The Eagles' defense is built opposite of the Patriots': phenomenal four-man pass rush, weakness at outside cornerback. An upset is much more likely if Eagles left tackle Jason Peters is healthy enough to play, however. Philadelphia needs him to block Justin Houston. Kevin Seifert, national NFL writer: Packers over Falcons. It wouldn't be the most stunning outcome in history, not after the Packers held off a strong Seahawks team in Week 1 and the Falcons barely overcame the Bears. But it would be an impressive feat to go into the Falcons' new home and win the first regular-season game there. Field Yates, NFL Insider: Bears over Bucs. It's early, so we're still finding out what each Authentic Walter Payton Youth Jersey team is all about. But I'll echo Mike. The Bears' front seven was active and disruptive in Week 1 against Atlanta. The Tampa Bay offensive line features some shuffled parts this season, which could require a bit of an adjustment period. The Bears' offense will have to find ways to manufacture touches for its two talented backs, as it did in Week 1. Graziano: Nooooo, it's way http://www.bearsnflofficialproshop.com/walter-payton-jersey-for-sale-c-3.html too soon to say that. A week ago, I think we all expected the Giants to be a good team, and it would be wrong to let one game change that expectation. There's a reasonable chance Sunday was the worst game the Giants' offense will play all season, and there's a nonzero chance it's the best game the Cowboys' defense will play all season. I expect the NFC East to be a close race. I expect the tougher schedules to make it difficult for the teams at the top to win the 13 and 11 games they won a year ago. I'm not ruling out Philadelphia and Washington as troublemakers or even contenders, assuming the division tightens up as I expect it to. Long way to go in the NFC East. Sando: I'm not throwing everything out the window after one game. The Giants were my pick heading into the season, with Dallas right there in the mix and Philadelphia as a team with boom-or-bust potential. Odell Beckham Jr.'s health is such a key variable. Schatz: Yes. The NFC East is strong from top to bottom, but the Cowboys were the best team in the division in 2016 and look like the best Authentic Stevie Johnson Youth Jersey team this year now that Elliott is expected to play the whole season. If Jaylon Smith and Taco Charlton can help make the defense even just a little bit above average, Dallas is an even better bet to repeat as division champion. That's tough for the other three teams, each of which might be the favorite if it played in the AFC South. Seifert: Yes. I didn't think the Giants had done enough to catch up with them during the offseason, and nothing that happened Sunday night changed my mind. There is no way that one non-quarterback, be it OBJ or anyone else, can make that big of a difference. The Eagles are intriguing as Carson Wentz develops, but the Cowboys look stronger once again. Graziano: Tarik Cohen, RB, Bears. (Though, not to brag, I did pick him up in a sneaky Saturday night move in one league last week.) One person in the Bears http://www.officialnikechargershop.com/stevie-johnson-jersey-for-sale-c-42.html organization told me a few weeks ago, "He's this year's Tyreek Hill." Chicago wants to use Cohen in a variety of roles, and I think you saw a little bit of that Sunday. Some concern about whether he can hold up at 5-foot-6 -- yes, I'll field trade offers this week! -- but if he's on the field, he's going to get the ball. Honorable mention for me is Nelson Agholor, who I think is a real part of the plans in Philadelphia. Sando: You want the truth? I'm in the kicker market after drafting Sebastian Janikowski and then forgetting to make the change while I was traveling to Green Bay for the Seahawks-Packers game. I went into Monday night tied after getting no points from the kicker spot. Once I get a kicker, I'm monitoring Saints receivers Tommylee Lewis and Brandon Coleman, who have a chance to put up some numbers in that offense.

Acting like a pro: Whether on the ice or on screen, Rich Clune is comfortable playing his role

New team, new city, same old Marc-Andre Fleury. After Men's Replica Majestic Santiago Casilla Green Jersey - #46 MLB Oakland Athletics Salute To Service 13 seasons, 375 wins and three Stanley Cups with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the 32-year-old goaltender waived his no-movement clause, allowing the Penguins to move on to the younger and more affordable Matt Murray. Now Fleury is the face of the nascent Vegas Golden Knights, as their marquee addition from the expansion draft. The shift from a perennial contender to a team with modest expectations marks a significant change for Fleury. When your owner and general manager openly admit that they don't expect to make the playoffs until their third season, how does that make the starting goaltender feel? Fleury opens up about expectations and how he has http://www.authenticoaklandathletics.com/Santiago-Casilla-Jersey changed since his 2003 debut (more wine consumption and less media); and of course, he sprinkles in a few jokes along the way. Matt says that Rich is a "performer" who has natural charisma that lends itself to the screen, where an actor needs a presence to engage an audience. The way Matt sees it, Rich's decision to start taking acting classes three years ago -- and to put those skills to use onscreen this summer -- was more natural evolution than novelty. "Whether he's playing hockey or in a room with people, he's an alpha. He wants to be the leader and the loudest in the room and the most noticeable," said Matt, a screenwriter in Los Angeles. "As far as him making the plunge and saying, 'I want to study this craft,' I think he always had that Authentic Corey Dickerson Womens Jersey alpha energy you need." Rich, 30, has played 139 NHL games since he was selected by the Dallas Stars in the third round of the 2005 NHL draft. This offseason, he tackled roles in two short films. One was "Hypostasis," an experimental short, filmed over four days in July in Toronto that explores mental health. Rich played the protagonist, Matthew Robinson. According to the film's fundraising website, Rich's character "attempts to control his bipolar condition over the course of an eventful day." Rich, who has worked with organizations such as the Canadian Mental Health Association and the Renascent Treatment Centre, has been open about his own struggles with addiction and mental health. His other foray into acting was a dark comedy titled "The Marvin Family Tortoise." It was filmed in Joshua Tree, California, and Rich -- who played a supporting role as a 1950s bureaucrat -- shot http://www.authentictampabayrays.com/Corey-Dickerson-Jersey his scenes during one day in August. "I know a lot of hockey players who are doing internships at a lot of companies, so it's not like it's anything out of the ordinary to apply yourself to another craft," Rich said. "But I've also never been afraid to be myself. It's what I want to do." Growing up in Toronto, all three Clune brothers were into sports. Matt and Rich played hockey, and Ben, the youngest, played baseball. But they were also entranced by film. The brothers often discussed and dissected a wide variety of movies, including "The Godfather," the "Rocky" films, as well Martin Scorsese's and Stanley Kubrick's respective works. This exposure gave them an appreciation for film and broader sense of cinema. Ben is also a screenwriter based in Los Angeles, and he and Matt have co-written several scripts, including one about well-known drug trafficker Rick Ross and another about legendary boxer Joe Louis that have each Authentic Bill Melton Youth Jersey been bought by production companies. "I think stuff like that just gave us an opportunity to play together but also just enjoy movies together," Matt said. As Rich's hockey career progressed, he mostly suppressed his desire to act because he was afraid to show his jock teammates that he was into the arts and wanted to act. "It's an easy way to start a fight, if you tell your teammates you want to go to a theater class or be in a play or a movie or something," Rich said. "It was all in my own head. I'm sure it would happen, but it's nothing I couldn't deal with at the time. But when you're young, you don't know." It wasn't until the 2014-15 season, when he was with the Nashville Predators, that Rich finally started to take acting classes, first in Nashville and then in Milwaukee, where he was sent to play for Nashville's AHL affiliate. Rich, who also played in the Dallas Stars and http://www.authenticchicagowhitesox.com/Bill-Melton-JerseyLos Angeles Kings organizations, had been sober since 2010 and found that acting was a productive way to occupy himself during his downtime from hockey. "It has just ignited different parts of my mind that I never used for so long just because I was so into 'hockey, hockey, hockey ... and drinking and drug use,' " Rich said.Rich spent that summer in Studio City, California, where he stayed with Matt and took acting classes four nights per week to try to nail down the basics. During the offseason, Nashville bought out his contract and he signed with the Marlies, the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL squad, which proved fortuitous for his acting career. Toronto is one of the top Canadian training grounds for actors and the AHL schedule, which is heavy on weekend games, gave him time to jump into acting classes during the week.
